SEO People Pictures

With Pubcon Las Vegas 2006 underway tomorrow, Jim Boykin published a page jam-packed with pictures of well known people in the SEO/SEM industry. This should help those attending Pubcon by giving them some faces to look for and recognize. You will notice one of our local guys Lee Odden is in a number of the pics and is also speaking at this years event.
By the way, Jim Boykin has a great blog on internet marketing and a well respected business in We Build Pages. Gotta add him to the blogroll.

I can’t attend Pubcon this year but I will make a post referring you to the best coverage of the conference.

Is there any special techniques that can be used to optimize a wordpress blog on my server for SEO. One issue I see is no way to change the title tags on each page, where it seems to take the blog name for the home page.
I have several hundred 600+ inbound links.
I have pinged Technorati manually and used pingoat as well as pingomatic every time I add a new blog.
There is plenty of content, about 30 articles.
What else can I do? What else should I do to optimize my blog?

Hi Ernesto, thanks for stopping by the MIMA SM blog and taking the time to reply and ask a question.

Wordpress is pretty well optimized but there are some things to watch for plus some handy plugins.

SEO Title Tag is a plugin that should get your titles how you want them. There are also some other pluings that will add meta descriptions and other tags.

Using the permalinks feature will help you out in the serps and usability. The shorter the url the better and use your keywords when possible.

Target your articles to lengthen your long tail using your keywords in title and the body of the article. Naturally using variations and related items of the keyword/s in your text will do you well.

Avoid getting hurt by using duplicate content on different pages of your site. If you are creating a “page” on your blog that covers the same thing one of your posts/articles did, change it up and don’t copy it word for word.

If you are wondering about marketing your blog using rss, socializing and advertising I will get to that in another post.

    Thanks!
