Don’t Click Here - The Power of Curiosity

May 24th, 2007  ·  by Chris Dohman  ·  2 Comments

Search Engine Land has included a new tab labeled “Don’t Click Here” with its new wealth of guides devoted to primary aspects of search and search marketing. The “Don’t Click Here” tab peaked my curiosity right away. Thoughts raced through my head. Is there something behind this tab that Danny doesn’t want me to see? Is the Google algorithm(sorry Ask) behind this door? Maybe Danny left his rolodex of search guru cell phone numbers exposed. Will I win a pass to the first Search Marketing Expo if I just take a chance and click through the “Don’t Click Tab”? Or, will I be the fool and simply find a 404 or under construction page?

I won’t tell you what I found behind the “Don’t Clilck Here” tab. You can decide for yourself if you want to take a peek. My point is that a simple little piece of text like “stay out”, “don’t click here”, “not for your eyes” or a “?” can be good way of getting people to click. The curiosity of the unknown is often times too strong to ignore.

Hey Danny, will you share the stats you get on this page? Thanks!
